Hey, George, let's liberate the Saudis next! In an effort to justify cavorting through Iraq like Crusaders on crack, George Bush got all sanctimonious about freeing the Iraqi people from the yoke of oppression, yada, yada, yada. Hey, no problem! As a red-blooded, knee-jerk American patriot, I'm all for freeing people from the yoke of oppression (no matter how many of them we have to kill in the process). What say
we do the Saudis next? As yokes of oppression go, the government of Saudi
Arabia stinks on ice! Their so-called "justice system" is administered
by a bunch of religious whackos known as the Wahhabi, who don't even bother
to inform you that you have the right to scream for mercy before "interrogating"
your private parts with a weed-whacker. Women are forced to wear weird
fundamentalist bag things over their heads and are whipped in public for
the transgressions of their husbands. When you get right down to it, the
Saudi royal family is really nothing more than Saddam Hussein with a good
press agent (or better censorship). I recall another special-interest politician by the name of George "Read My Lips" Bush waxing sophomoric to the effect that the purpose of "Operation Desert Scam" was to "restore democracy" to Kuwait. Even after it was pointed out to him that never, in its entire history, had Kuwait been a democracy, rather than admit he proposed to sacrifice AMERICAN LIVES to restore an ABSOLUTE MONARCHY, he went with that lame "restore the legitimate government" evasion. The fact of the matter is, all "Operation Desert Scam" restored was the Al Sabah family's yoke of oppression. I mean, let's face it, the REAL reason Papa Bush "liberated" Kuwait is that the Kuwaiti royal family has a stock portfolio that nets $80 MILLION a DAY. Excuse
me, but wasn't America pretty much founded on the premise that monarchies
suck? So, why are we backing such egregiously oppressive absolute monarchies?
There's certainly nothing "legitimate" about the Saudi government.
If they didn't have thousands of American troops protecting them, their
own people would have lynched them (and their Wahhabi thugs) long ago.
